Robert (Bob) Broeksmit is President and CEO of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA). Bob is a senior finance executive and corporate officer with a 35-year career in the mortgage sector. He has directed all aspects of lending activities, including marketing, sales, operations, secondary marketing, loan servicing, and default management. He has also served as a mortgage underwriting expert testifying on many large, high-profile cases.

Prior to joining MBA in 2018, Bob served as President and Chief Operating Officer with Treliant, heading the firm’s mortgage litigation support practice and serving diverse financial services clientele including large banks, independent mortgage lenders, community banks, credit unions, and service providers to the mortgage industry. As a Washington-based financial services consultancy, Treliant’s mortgage practice included strategic advisory for executive management and corporate boards; litigation defense, including file reviews, litigation strategy, expert reports, and expert testimony; CFPB examination preparation and implementation of mortgage regulations promulgated by the CFPB and other regulators; and operational aspects of mortgage banking, ranging from origination to servicing and loss mitigation.

Before Treliant, Bob held senior leadership positions in the mortgage business, including fourteen years with Chevy Chase Bank (including after its purchase by Capital One), where he was Executive Vice President and President of its B.F. Saul Mortgage Company subsidiary. Bob also was a Vice President at Prudential Home Mortgage for seven years. He has overseen annual originations of $9 billion, a balance sheet of $10 billion in residential mortgages, and a servicing portfolio of $20 billion. He also held positions at Great Western Mortgage, Krupp Residential Mortgage, and The Money Store.

Bob has served as the Chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Residential Board of Governors and as a member of its Board of Directors. Firms under his leadership have garnered multiple awards for servicing operations excellence, including Freddie Mac’s Tier One and Hall of Fame designations. He is a Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) and a graduate of Yale University.



David Chen is the Owner and Operator of two Chick-fil-A locations located in Midtown Tulsa.  The vision of his organization is to have a positive influence on all who come into contact with Chick-fil-A which has been a cornerstone in the way he leads and operates his business.

Selected as one of Oklahoma's 40 under 40 influential leaders, David has dedicated his career to the service of others.  After graduating in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech, David served 2 years as a missionary in East Asia.  Upon his return to the States, he completed his Master's Degree in Cross Cultural Leadership from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary while serving multiple organizations within church ministry, non-profit work supporting refugee resettlement, and restaurant leadership for Starbucks Coffee Company.

During this season, David found his passion in customer service and his ability to serve his team, his guests, and his community through a restaurant environment.  In 2010, he joined the Chick-fil-A Support Center in Atlanta, GA where he helped to select Owner/Operators for the Southwest and West Regions of Chick-fil-A and in 2015, he made the transition to opening his own Chick-fil-A franchise at Southroads Shopping Center in Tulsa, OK.  Since his grand opening, his Chick-fil-A Southroads Shopping Center has become the largest volume Chick-fil-A in the state of Oklahoma serving over 6 million guests, employing over 700 Team Members, and donating over $1.5 million in in-kind donations to its local community.

David met his wife, Lynn, on the mission field and they have been married for 17 years and they have two beautiful daughters Carolyn Grace and Elizabeth.


Christopher Maloney is the Mortgage Strategist at Bank of Oklahoma Financial Capital Markets. He has over a quarter century of experience in the financial industry, beginning his career on the NASDAQ trade desk at Prudential Securities. Afterward, he managed fixed-income portfolios at both Lehman Brothers then Neuberger Berman. He most recently was the mortgage strategist for over a decade on the First Word desk at Bloomberg News. He earned his MBA from NYU Stern and is currently working on his second book, which concerns the creation of the Federal Reserve System.


J. Tony Thompson, CMB is the Founder & CEO of the National Association of Minority Mortgage Bankers of America (NAMMBA), an organization dedicated to increasing the engagement of women and minorities with the Mortgage Bankers Association at the local, state, and national level. Since its inception in 2016, NAMMBA has grown to over 30 chapters and 7,500 members nationwide.

J. Tony Thompson, CMB has over 15+ years of leading and building high-performance sales teams. As the Founder/CEO of NAMMBA, Mr. Thompson’s vision is to create a platform where women and minorities can connect, grow, and become leaders in the mortgage industry while providing a platform to recruit and train the next generation of mortgage professionals.

Mr. Thompson received his B.S. from South Carolina State University in Business Administration and an MBA from Webster University. In 2011, he received his Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) designation from the National Mortgage Bankers Association. This distinct designation is held by less than 1% of industry professionals. He currently is a board member for the National Mortgage Bankers Association Residential Loan Production Committee and a graduate of the MBA Future Leaders Program.

Over the last several years, he has been recognized and featured in many industry publications for his dedication to the community and mortgage industry. Finally, Mr. Thompson serves on the board of directors for several non-profit organizations and is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
